Beware the NAS type receiver hitch shown in the 2nd post is not actually legally Type Approved for use in UK / Europe on the D2. In theory, if you had an accident while towing it could get messy with your insurance company.
In reality, many people use them without any problems that I've heard of.They should be very strong, if made by a recognised company, but watch out for badly made copies of the the original Land Rover branded part.
The Land Rover branded original is rated for 3.5 tons towing weight & I've used ours with a recovery attachment (solid steel block for attaching a large shackle) for recovering very stuck off-road Land Rovers. Never any sign of weakness - as long as your rear chassis is OK - lol.
Another issue to watch our for is the receiver & attachment size. The Land Rover original was made for the US market - so it was based on their 2inch (52mm) standard. Some copies & many of the UK / European made accessories are based on a 50mm standard. Result is either parts not fitting or lots of rattling !
