Off roading last night I felt my truck started to feel weird when turning and noticed my tires had started rubbing on full lock.

Decided to call it a night as it was already 4am and at a guess I thought my cv was on the way out. So bailing home for a slow and steady drive home I set off..

Immediately after joining the road I could feel that something was holding me back. I couldn't leave 3rd gear for 4th as my 200tdi just wouldn't pull through 4th.

There wasn't much noise from usual but I could feel the truck getting heavier to drive as well as wandering wherever it wanted!

About a mile up the road she went pop and I lost drive. Had a look underneath to find I had bent my rear steering bar like a banana.

I had also lost drive to the front and assumed that because my wheels were wonky it had messed up the diff.

Acouple of friends came to my aid where we used his winch to straighten the steering bar but after we had the rear drive of my truck in diff lock wouldn't push it without massive effort, so out came the straight bar for a pull home. Another mile down the road being pulled by a mates v8 trayback and smelling the excess petrol he was emitting pulling me we both started wobbling all over the road. After pulling over we realised that my left wheel had snapped from the hub.
Ended up getting a recovery truck home.
Total idiots or just plain who knew that were to happen?

I'll upload some photos later.

Don't think your alone. I think most people would have tried to make it home. I had a bent front axle. I drove it for about a year before changing it. I went for a Salisbury. Mine is LHD so I had to fit some parts off the old axle. I have since had a vibration problem which I am about to tackle by rebuilding that side of the axle. At least LR front axle can be found on ebay for not too much money. Salisbury front axle are getting very expensive. I bought mine three years ago, they seem to have doubled in price since then.

So what's the damage mate?

Stub axle, CV and half shaft if you're lucky, maybe hub, swivel and disc broken too if you're not ... :(

Check my Facebook paul. I'm on my phone at the mo I'll try and upload now. It looks bad but it's a simple fix. I have my mates old hd steering bars that needed welding on the ends which I've done tonight and I just need the passenger axle end thingy... The whole cv ect for 10 spline. It also gives me an excuse to fit my 10 spline locker

I might have a spare 10spline half-shaft and CV ... I'll check FB .. :)

Top man paul. Picked each side up tonight for 20 whole pound coins. Atleast I now have an excuse to fit the front locker that's been sat there for a long long time! Should I be stripping the cv on these new hub ends and redoing seals and such?

No worries mate, I would put all new seals in.
