Hi Everyone! I'm new to this so be gentle please!!
I've got a multitude of LandRovers at the moment and as the world revolves have got problems with them all.
Firstly, my Freelander Td4 2002 commercial has an intermitant problem with dumping all the fuel back into the tank. Thus leaving the engine with no fuel. I've changed the fuel filter and according to the "very reputable" land rover specialist who have charged us for numerous parts as well as both fuel pumps front and back say there's no problem at all. I think I may be a touch paranoid of the fact that when the car won't start that there's no problem all, go figure. The symptoms are that when I turn off the engine there is a gurgling sound as all the diesel from the engine is pushed back into the tank, I then have to take off all the injector clips and bleed the air out before the engine will start again. Question is, is it a pump failure in the tank as I can only hear the high pressure pump in engine bay working, or has the alarm ecu failed and if so how do I check it?
Secondly, my Discovery TD5 2004 G4 Landmark auto has the warning lights for the gearbox come on. These are the m and s lights circled in green on the dashboard. I have only had the car a week and have 1 months or 1000 miles all parts warrenty on it, but I want an idea what is wrong so that I don't get fobbed off with "it's only a sensor" story and then find out it was something more serious like the clutch or gearbox failing altogether. When the lights come on I put it in park turn off the engine and this resets the fault, but if I continue to drive until I can stop safely then it automatically drops into 1st gear and will not change up at all.
All comments will be greatly received!!!!!!!!!!!!
