Hi everyone

I've been putting this job off but I'm going to repair the bulkhead corner of the drivers side on my Landy. Its not too bad but the bit next to the vent hinge is definitely rotten. Someone did a half arse repair on the passengers side and just welded a repair section over the original area.

Anyway I had a more detailed look at the weekend and I think it makes sense just to repair the whole front of the upper bulkhead. YRM do a replacement pair that join on the middle https://yrmit.co.uk/product/extended-bulkhead-repair-panels-per-pair-land-rover-defender-series-23/

These replacement panels also delete the air vent, which to be honest Im not that bothered about.

Basically I want to do the repair myself with the windscreen still attached. Has anyone done anything similar and do you have any tips?

Cheers

Hi. I welded onto the inside of the bulkhead so it still retains the flaps(with out brackets) As I wanted it to still look normal

But an easier way Is this flat from 1 side to the other on the outside. That way you can weld & flat it down neatly.
This method you may need to remove the screen

I would say that you need to remove the screen and frame to do the job properly, if nothing else than welding splatter and grinding sparks will stick to the glass and knacker it.
It's a bit of a pain, but not a massive job.
