Hi all,

Last year my crankshaft pulley decided to delaminate the rubber between the two halves of the torsional damper. Noticeable when turned off, the rattle / clatter was not nice.

It was a Friday evening, and had to drive ~250 miles on the Monday. No time to buy or replace the pulley, so what to do?

Went to the local hardware store and bought 6 rubber sash window wedges @ about 50p each and poked them, evenly spaced, around the pulley - they slotted into the gaps really well!

They lasted the journey (admittedly, they were a bit chewed up when I got to my destination), but the pulley and engine survived! New pulley fitted, all ok.

Just thought that this might possibly help somebody else who finds themselves in a similar situation.

Cheers,
Ultraweasel.
