Hi all,
I have a 1991 defender 200 tdi that needs new discs and callipers. I noticed that the axle number on the front is 77L0####A, which appears to be off a 1995 Discovery. Are the discs and callipers the same for the defender and disco?
Many thanks in advance.

I would also advocate for rebuilding your existing caliper with new seals and stainless pistons rather than just replacing. As otherwise you will be in the same position again in a few years time.

There are 2 sizes of calipers( plus vented )
Have you any photos of the caliper you have ?
Yes you can use defender calipers
They are not vented discs. But from your comment I take it there are two different disc sizes for solid discs. I have ordered parts online so fingers crossed they are the right ones.

Thanks for the comment. I considered that but I would need to get the existing ones bead blasted or something as they are in a right state. New ones only cost about £59 each so I thought I would save some time and effort. Hopefully they don’t come in a blue box tho.

No there are 2 types of calieprs…
1 has small pads, same front & back on disco
1 has large pads, same as later disco & 110 fronts.

Don’t worry though both types use the same fixings on the axles

Phil question.
Cos I know you have mix n matched alot :)

So are the 110 fronts bigger than the 90 fronts (1996 90) and they would fit?
Bigger discs or just bigger caliper?

110 bigger callipers,think 4 pot not 2 pot.
Yep all disks are standard size for all LR products
All fittings are in the same place
Mine is disco axles tubes running the 110 ends

I did mine with a wire wheel on the angle grinder for the outside and a scotchbrite pad on the dremmel for the inside.

Even if you got new ones my advice still stands. I would be pulling the new pistons out and replacing with stainless. You just don’t need seals and to refurb the rest of the caliper.

our mudball has 4 pot. So get they fitted them at a later year.

A 1991 Defender 90 will have the so called larger 110 calipers as standard, only the 19J Ninety and models before had the smaller caliper. Both are 4 pot and it is just a nut and bolt job to swap to the larger caliper.

Thanks.
