Hi everyone,
After a recent purchase on Defender Upgrades (19/09/2017), I have finally got my money back.
Let me explain:
I bought Discovery 2 shock droppers (defenderupgrades.co.uk/product/discovery-2-shock-droppers/) after I lifted the vehicle because the shocks where a bit short.
First of all the parts were available (email exchanges with Mr Williams), then I was told the parts were going to be delayed. At this point It wasn't a problem. I was ok to wait.
After several calls and emails with different stories such as "my supplier was supposed to send them but he never did" or "my supplier has last the CAD drawings and can't make them again for the moment" and so on... I got an email on the 24/10/17 saying the parts had left Wales. I was finally going to have my parts
When I had the chance to install the parts I found out that they did not fit. (Longer bolts too big for original mounting/shorter bolts too small). I contacted Mr Williams by phone straight away. Sent him pictures and videos of the actual problem and his response was a picture of the parts. (same picture you find on his website) No use at all. Several exchanges resulted in him telling me to send the parts back.
I proceeded to send the parts back. With no return form or address I went to the website, found an address (Blackbrook Garage, Penrhos, Caerphilly, CF83 1NF) and sent the parcel. It turns out the address on the website is not the correct one..(Maybe i was supposed to guess it wasn't the correct one...).
After the parcel arrived in an other company Blackbrook Garage, Mr Williams finally went and collected the parcel after several calls to him and Blackbrook Garage.
Then came the part were he was supposed to refund me. An other battle took place, me sending emails every day from 2 different email addresses, via the contact page on his website, calling him via my mobile phone, my work phone on his personal and business number. I eventually got a partial refund. The rest (4.99£) wad kept by him to "cover the charges i had from when I purchased via card" and "cover our admin cost and time we spent messing around".
After 82 emails, many phone calls, an order placed on the 19/09/17 I got 60£ out of 64.99£ on the 19/01/18. Add to that 25€ (I live in France) worth of shipping in order to return the goods to Wales, this has cost me 27£ and I don't have anything
In My opinion Mr Williams is not someone to do business with. He does not have a professional approach whilst dealing with problems.
