Hello my transfer box has started to get a bit of a knock taking up and losing drive, goes away with CDL engaged, had a new dmf/clutch and prop donut, so been told its some gear bush inside the TC.

I have bigger tyres (265/75/16) anyway, so thought if i could go to a defender 1.4 ratio box i could get back to a normal drive line gear ratio?

Is it a straight swap, I've seen them rebuilt on ebay for £500ish, is there a certain box i need to look for? and will all the hi/low CDL function the same? Thankyou

If the defender box is from a Td5 then it's fine but if it's from 300tdi it misses the hi-low switch

High/low detect switch
A high/low detect switch is fitted in the front output housing and connects to earth when low is selected. The switch is
connected to the engine ECM, the SLABS ECU and the EAT ECU. The purpose of the switch is to enable selection
of the hill descent feature and to modify the engine fuelling and automatic gearbox gearshift maps stored within the
respective ECM's and ECU's.
