Good afternoon/morning,

I have an intermittent power issue with my Defender 2.4 TDCI.

When ever I go over a bump or down a pothole a bit too hard (Not with excessive speed or anything), the defender suddenly looses all power for a second or two and flashes on the oil and coil light. After that it goes straight back to normal.

Has anyone come across this before and has fixed it?

Any suggestions will be investigated as this is starting to frustrate me!!!

Kind regards,
Wizza

It might be a dodgy connection to the oil pressure sensor. Hitting a bump might disturb the poor connection to the sensor and give the impression that the oil pressure has dropped. The engine management system might be fleetingly going in to limp mode to protect the engine from the apparent low oil pressure. Doesn't explain why the coil warning light is coming on, maybe there's a short across to that circuit too.

Thank you for your replies i am going to investigate them this weekend coming. Hopefully something is obvious!
