Good Morning!

I am standing in front of one of Perus 3 Defender TD5s. Have a problem. Need a quick response (please) as I will be leaving the area soon.

Problem: Will not start. No power to starter-motor relay.
My intuition says: Immobiliser defect?
Details: After closing the doors and bonnet, the red light above the speedo blinks rapidly (with key in position0). When turning the key to position2 it glows steady. When turning to position3 (ignition), nothing happens (no klicking etc). The alarm does not sound, nor do the indicator lights blink.
I have tried laying a cable directly to the starter-motor-relay. The engine springs to life as long as I keep the cable in position, but dies always after about 5 seconds. If I remove the cable within these 5 seconds, it dies as well.
I have tried entering the "code", to deactivate the immobiliser. No effect.

This TD5 has no remote control and no interior movement alarm
Please help. Thanks!
Chris

Hi Chris,

I have a Defender with the same problem.
Did you solve it?
And how did you solve it?
I would be glad hearing from you!

Greetings,
Maya

Hi guys,

did any of you manage to solve the problem?

THX

I had this problem too but that was because I'd changed the battery in the key fob. ( not central locking )
It was the immobilizer causing the "fault" because it didn't recognise the key fob.
Thats why I tried to get folk to explain exactly what their fault was cos the OP said he didn't have a remote????
