A friendly "hi" to seasoned members and to fellow newbies. I'm the happy new owner of a grey metallic (Stornaway?) 2008 Defender 90 County HT. I had a couple of brief flirtations with series Land Rovers in my youth but this is my first experience of the "modern" vehicle. I'm looking forward to learning about the vehicle and getting involved in the camaraderie that the marque seems to attract. I don't have much of a knowledge of the Defender yet but happy to contribute to the forums as and when I might have something sensible/relevant/mildly amusing to say!
My Defender is pretty much standard but does benefit from the factory rubber A bar and Land Rover spotlights. I've bought a roof rack from a fellow member and found a decent starter roof tent in preparation for a trip up into the Scottish Highlands in 2017.
I don't plan to make many modifications or additions - although I'd love F and R Ashcroft LSD diffs. These are more of an indulgent want rather than need and in any case, to keep my beloved SWMBO happy, a pair of rear Puma seats have to come higher up the list of priorities so we can give our grandchildren a taste of Land Rover adventure!
I'm also a motorcyclist so I'm very used to giving/receiving a friendly wave of acknowledgement to fellow enthusiasts. However, until now I never realised Land Rover owners did likewise. Nice!
