Hi all,

I would be very greatfull if someone could help me out!.
I have recently got my 90 back after having a chassis up re build.Its obvs has a new crossmember.Got a set of new mudflaps the other day and tried to fit them.The crossmember has pre drilled holes thatline up with the mudflap bracket holes but i cant get my hand behind the x member to put the nuts on or hold them with a spanner.Thought about self tapping bolts but not sure they would be strong enough.Im sure someone here has had the same trouble and found a cure???????
Help would be greatrly appreciated!.

Ah just used the self drilling bolts they use for holding down farm shed roofs for holding me mud flap bracket to the chassis on me 110. Plenty strong enough

me too - they're galvanised too, so they don't rust.

The correct way to fit these is to use a flanged threaded insert which is fixed using a setting tool you can then just screw a bolt into the insert. these are a pain if you ever need to remove the mudflaps as the insert always spins an you end up drilling them out.
Best to use a flanged self drilling tek bolt as Buster and Trewey said

Theyre called RivNuts. and if you haven't got the insert tool you can use a bolt to tighten it up till it's secure in the hole. Then remove bolt attach fitting and reinsert bolt tightening it fully this time.

I used a rivnut, just borrowed the riveting tool from a mate, now I just bolt the brackets into the insert. Don't think my mudflaps are going anywhere now.
