Hi guys
A while back i re-dressed my defender 200tdi engine as a Discovery 200tdi engine ( Defender timing case badly damaged ) the re-dressed engine is running the original Defender FIP.
Can anyone tell me if the Defender FIP is ok to use or do i need a Discovery FIP :)

All the same, I think even a 300 one will fit.
Main thing is do not mix the two large banjo bolts up!

Sorry for the late reply but i mite go the 300 route as they look cheaper to buy, if i do will any 300 do or will it have to be from a manual :)

Dont forget later 300 autos went EDC ie they were drive by wire, unsure of year but 95 rings a bell?
Have you checked out if the throttle cables are the same on 200 and 300 models?

Oh, can you remove the FIP with the belt and sprocket on, i've had the pump off before when i swapped the timing cases over but that was with everything removed.

I'm using moded series rods as i hate cables :)

I tried rods on my s2, it was very jerky if the road was uneven, ok with std gutless engine as it is normally pedal to the metal, tdi is a bit different.
So what I did was rods to the top of the pedal box then a cut down tdi throttle cable to the fip, not pretty but it works.

Yes if you buy the cheap tdi pin kits they come with a large black disc that supports the belt sprocket so you can withdraw pump without touching cambelt.
I heve done one in a field (300 disco as thats where it broke down) with some odd bolts/sockets and some flat bar, so if you dont want to buy the kit ,with some skullduggery it can be done.

Are nice one I will get one ordered when I'm ready :D

Does the manual one have a throttle linkage and is there anything i need to do with the wiring on the pump :)

Yes manual car one has mech linkage right until the end of production, as does the early 300 autos, only one wire that matters stop solenoid same as 200, other 300 wiring is for egr/throttle position sensor, early 300 did not have egr either only first year (93 L/M reg) Iirc.

Thanks lynall, i will get my rear disc brake conversion out of the way then i will get one and fit it :D
