Finally got around to fitting the exterior sun-visor this afternoon. Apart from always liking the look of them on Series vehicles, should help keep the sun (and snow) off the screen.
Only a dry-run as it will be coming off tomorrow ready to be sent to the paintshop to be colour-matched to the body (current finish is bare alloy & protective film) but am very pleased. It does everything I wanted of it and does not impede the view from inside the cab whatsoever.:)

And before anyone comments, yes I do have interior sun-visors and yes they do work perfectly well but I just like the exterior one as well! ;)

Ruin's the aerodynamics.;):D or may create an airflow that prevents fly's splatting on the screen.
 
I'd quite like one for my S3 but I'm tall and its aready a problem seeing the traffic lights when I'm stationary at them. I have stop a few feet back from the stop line, so an external visor would make it worse.

I agree, it may make a difference but there is a gap which allows air caught under the peak to pass through and over the roof. I have measured the fuel consumption every fill-up for the past 20-years so it will be easy to see if it makes a difference and I am keen to check that for myself.

The Defender screen is taller which helps with that very problem and the external visor positioned so that when sitting normally the front of the visor is only just visible but I agree, if you are sitting at traffic-lights where the only light is directly above and to one side (filter) then you would have to duck lower or hold further back. That said, on the journeys I drive it is not often that there isn't another light (usually on the opposite side of the junction).
 
Finally got around to fitting the painted sun-visor, never pays to rush these things!

Certainly an increase in wind-noise can be detected at speed, up to 55MPH it can't be noticed at all but above that speed it is noticeable (but not intrusive and if I had the radio on then I probably wouldn't hear it anyway).

I only re-fitted the hood last week but that was just prior to bolting on the sun-visor and now you mention it I should imagine that it would be awkward to get in and tuck the edge under the clamp. That said, the visor is only held in place by a few bolts so it is the work of just a few minutes to remove it.
Personally I never remove the top of the hood, rolling up the back & sides is a far as I go. The only reason I had the hood off was because I had removed the rear tub for painting.
