I've always been attracted to simple use dashboard layouts with as few switches as possible. This enterprising fellow in SA is from a different school of thought. How many switches...and the wiring!! o_O

Though his craftsmanship looks tiptop...https://www.facebook.com/groups/1632011220396348/user/1400657933/

Superb! One piece dash structure with modular switches and dial panel for easy access - Love it!
Nice find. Wish I was brave enough to go on FB :)

FB has some excellent closed technical forums...some of the Land Rover groups, Goodwood Road Racing, RAF Duxford, Brooklands et al are first rate. The marketplace can be handy too and our local village group is great...especially for getting rid of unwanted items as there's always someone who'll make best use of them.

The rest of it attracts life's societal dregs and is ****e.

I really like this. (the flat dash one). I've been measuring and I think there's a few shallow depth double din units that will fit without major surgery - so once I have the wagon back together I will look at this - but as an add-on rather than a whole new dash.

Particularly want a double carplay headunit - for the integrated sat-nav stuff, plus double din so I can have front and rear cameras on the tow hitches to make hooking up solo easier. Yeah, I can do it without, but it's always an inch off and the trailer is a heavy bugger.

In my imagination, I might listen to music too - but since my wagon has an LT85 gearbox, mostly I need ear defenders. It even drowns out the sound of the V8.

Can really recommend adding Silentcoat/Dynamat to the inside of your doors, footwells, floors and seat box - it makes a big difference [I also fitted to under bonnet and rear bulkhead].

For music I use a JBL Extreme 2 bluetooth linked to the mobile phone giving me any radio/music station anywhere I want, anywhere in the world. It sits behind the cubby box and is superb. Can even listen to Gardener's Question Time and Sorry I Haven't a Clue in the Atacama Dessert !! ;)

Thanks. Yes, will slowly work towards better noise insulation along with making it a bit drier too. Hopefully the gearbox noise will mostly be resolved by the new gearbox on it's way. It will be a game changer - it's been noisy for a decade! But I got used to it - usually wore some blue-tooth in-ear heaphones which made things a lot quieter.
