just bought my first Defender 90, 1986 and the battery sounds like it needs a boost - where is it! looked under the bonnet and can't see anything that looks like a battery!
 
lol , there is a van on the market ( cant for the life of me remember the name of it ) with the battery under the passengers feet ..... took me ages to find it to jump start it ...
 
Porsche 911 - battery is in front of the gearstick, where you'd expect the fag light thing to be
 
Merc Vario - under the drivers seat ( pull gray knob on the O/S of seat base to flip it forward )

Had an Imp, way back when petrol was served by forecourt attendants (yes...I am that old :) ) - used to sit and watch them walk three times round vehicle before they gave up and asked! :D
 
Mk iv Zodiac, fuel filler behind the rear numberplate!
Audi A8 battery under the floor of the boot next to the spare wheel!
Audi A2 dipstick behind flip down front grill!
