Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of assistance on replacing the springs / shocks on my defender.
It’s a 1984 Defender 90 with a Discovery rear axel fitted .
Can I fit discovery suspension all round or must I fit discovery to the rear and Defender to the front. ?

Any help would be must appreciated
Kev.

The axle is just an axle. For correct spring rates etc, stick with defender suspension (unless you are planning on lifting it etc)

Scrub that last comment . Disco suspension on the rear ... defender suspension on the front .
Now I’m starting to think it may be Disco suspension in the front . Is there an easy way to determine what fitted to the front ?
Down side of buying a mixed bag lol

Yes , there is , you own a 90/110 , fit 90/110 suspension.
Really, no offence mate but I really think you need to get a garage to do this for you, what you can do is look at the springs, look for the colour codes, that will tell you what is on there, if you have discovery springs on there get them off and fit 90/110 springs..
Your vehicle has discovery axles on it, or at least a rear, its a common conversion to get disc brakes on the rear, the suspension however is not the rear axle, its a separate entity, the two suspension set ups are the same for disco and defender except the spring ratings are different, that's about it, everything else is the same. So you need springs rated for a defender, not a discovery.

Do you have a photo of the rear axle? and its spring/damper mountings, just so we are reading from the same page.
