I've got a bog standard 90. I would like to upgrade to a 2" lift kit but don't really know enough about them to know which is the best. I have a budget of around £500 give or take and want to know which is the best for this sort of money and whether I need to get the trailing arms etc or just the springs and dampers. Is it best to buy a full kit like the britpart one or to assemble the parts separately.

I'm getting a new chassis, bulkhead and rewiring done on her so she's going to be pulled apart and rebuilt. Whilst I've got the chance I thought I would replace her tired springs with new and give her the lift. I do go greenlaning on occasions and have needed axle articulation on some of the rougher ones. I'm not looking to put new tyres on her but had the thought that being 2" higher going through the many floods I've navigated would be useful. I'd like the ride to be a good one but tend to drive mostly around small lanes.

no one has ever lifted a fender before, so a search would be pointless.

That 2" will make loads of difference!!!!!! Haha. And a good ride on a lift kit just doesn't exist! For small lanes you wouldn't want it lifted? As for articulation you just want some longer travel shocks as that's what limits it apart from bump stops.

P.s good introduction as well fella, try head over to that first and get to know the forum and as mentioned the magic "search button"

Regards.

I fitted a 2" lift kit to my 90 and scared myself a couple of times with the poor straight line stability (nearly had the vehicle drive off the motorway into a ditch). Without modified trailing arms, the castor angle changes with a lifting kit. I had to correct the castor angle by rotating the swivel hubs on the front axle.

If its only green-laning you do and your not fitting bigger tyres, I wouldn't bother lifting a 90. They are perfectly capable on standard height with anything other than extreme stuff. If you go lifting it and then fitting bigger tyres onto it to make it look right again, alot of the lanes will start to become boring for you.

I have a 2" lift on my 110 with 33x12.5 muds and to be honest, a lot of the time when out laning with others, I'd feel like I'd have much more fun if I brought my Dads Disco 2 which is pretty much standard

+1. Even though it wasn't scary or anything, stability was improved alot especially under braking when i fitted the castor correction radius arms and trailing arms to my 110.

I did a search before I purchased a lift kit and after seeing other peoples problems I decided not to bother, I bought a set of OEM springs and a set of standard height terrafirma shocks as I only go green laning once a month and drive on roads the rest of the time.

Normal green laning rarely needs a vast amount of articulation and it doesn't matter how much you lift the thing the axles/diffs are the thing that you usually get stuck on so bigger/taller wheels would rectify this.

Looks like you've been scared away, but welcome anyway you're not the first one not to introduce yourself and probably not the last....

My rear end was sagging a bit under load so I banged on some heavy duty +2" springs I picked up cheap.

I think not  Took them off after a few weeks as the ride and stability was so ****e !
