My defender had its roof off to repaint a few weeks back.

Since getting it back noticed the centre rear break light isn’t working. I have tested the fitting itself with a voltage tester with breaks engaged and the wires and bulb holder are both dead unfortunately, no volts

When i was putting some trim bits back after refitting my CB ariel noticed a thin purple wire which had snapped but didn’t think anything of it as the wiper and such all worked fine, but my friend then told me the middle light was out on a recent drive. I don’t expect this purple wire to be anything to do with the breaklight but not sure

Does anyone know where the wire runs for the break light is it in the headliner or elsewhere?

You don't say what age of vehicle you have but is the rear door break light not run through the loom on the drivers side from the rear corner same as the wiper and heated screen? removing the roof should not have effected it but might be worth pulling off the rear light cover to check the connections and test at that point?

Ill take my door card off and have another look
Can confirm my wiper and heated rear window all work fine though

I have a feeling the earth is part of the heated rear screen, so will need a new wire fitting.
Something like that anyway.
