hey lads,

im buying a 2004 (january) td5 defender 90 with 100k miles (is that alot for a 04??).

looking at the chassis, i think its in pretty good condition, but i have nothing to compare it to.

theres some rusty parts where body meets chassis.

my dad, a huge defender freak, would know straight away but he past away 6 years ago, which is also why we sold all 4 land rovers and why i want to buy one now. my mother and i cant really remember what a "good" chassis looked like, so maybe someone can post some pictures of a good/bad chassis and tell me what to look out for when i see the car on the lift on friday.

lots of pictures are helpful,

cheers

take photos and post on ehre and we will give you the low down,

concentrate on the rear cross member, all the body mounts (outriggers) and the low points at the rear

check bulkhead top corners aswell, and pull the carpet back to check the footwell. all those are know rot areas.

Dont be pressurised to buy if your not sure

photos on here will get you (very) honest opinions.

earliest i can take pictures is friday midday, which would be the day i would probably decide if i buy or not. do you think it is possible for you to be online at around 12 ish?

Small Hammer, torch and screw driver will give a pretty good indicator of condition..
