Hello
I'm thinking about renewing my Defender suspension this year. The current one is quite tired and sagging an inch to the right side.
First of all let me describe my car and it's use. It is a 1995 90 300tdi, with no anti-roll bars, and with 110 front springs fitted by the previous owner. I have a bullbar, a steel steering guard, a spare wheel carrier and plan to add a Browncurch roof rack. The objective of the roof rack is to be able to carry 4 people with their climbing/mountaineering equipment on the roof, or a rooftent in the future
The car is a daily driver, with weekend offroad use. I don't tow, but ocasionally carry some stuff in the back when doing some long trips. I also carry 4 people on the rear bench seats sometimes.
The original plan was to get some OEM Boge shocks paired with genuine LR springs and spring isolators.
It was recently sugested for me to get RRC "Police Spec" springs (NRC4304?) paired with spring isolators. I was told that they give a very small lift (1") and provide very good articulation.
- Are these police spec springs any good?
- Will they handle loads as well as the stock setup?
- Is the lift really that small? I'm not after a lifted suspension, can't see the point of them in a Defender.
- Can they be installed with the standard lenght OEM Boge shocks?
I know the genuine std or HD springs are a safe bet, but the really low price of the Police Spec springs is really, really tempting.
Thanks in advance for all the help
