Lol. Teller about it. Especially with some of the Welsh place names. Yeah
We came over from that direction via the Élan Valley

Another short video from our recent trip to Strata Florida. We drove down the night before and camped at the start of the lane route in Rhayader in the Elan Valley. It was a nice little start to the weekend as a link route across to Strata with some great scenery along the way.

Land Rover Defender 90, 110 and a Pinzgauer on lanes at Rhayader in the Elan Valley, Lowrangers 4x4 - YouTube

Really enjoyed that vid , just makes me more determined to get to a point where i feel i could tackle Wales ..:)

That is the great thing about Wales. The lanes are really varied. I take my kids on the Wayfayrer (3 + 5) sedate enough not to scare them but enough to show them what it's about!

ooh that sounds about right for me then ...:D

Yeah Wayfayrer is blob on then. You can even select different endings to the lane if you've built up some courage one of the forks at the end is night and tight and rocky!

Hmm could be a good intro for newbies :D i'll google wayfarer and see what comes up.;)

P.s that "other" thing on your vid - not the LR's , looks ermm " interesting" not sure i fancy riding in one of them tho ..

That's exactly what we all say. Don't get me wrong, when we stop for the night he's laughing cos he just climbs into his bunk while we set up tents but it does look a bit unstable a lot of the time!

I s'pose if they're good enough for the marines , they can't be too bad , i'd rather the tent/LR combo though ..

Muds- there is nothing on any of the Welsh Lanes that you couldn't do already, honestly. Some of them are more technical and need a bit of thought before ploughing ahead , but all of the Lanes that you've heard of have all been driven with Newbies - 1st time off-tarmac virgins with the 1st Overland Guys. Don't let nervousness put you off , youre more than ready :)

I think for us it's more of a geographical frustration , the lanes i've done and loved up till now are all so far away ...:( I've been out with folk i trust and you're right my confidence lets me down , but we are going to meet Funkykipper in a couple of weeks in Torbay and then i'll pester him to try and let us join a Wales trip one weekend.. Thing is i wont want to come home ...:(

I have to agree Wales does look great for a wekend trip i must go on the next one especially as my winch is now working again with a new solenoid fitted inside on the inner wing away from any water lol

Cornwall is a long trip to wales but well worth it, trust me !

I know it'll be worth it , i've a locked-in childhood memory of spending time with my old man when he used to take the lads up there ( Black Mountains ) doing survival training/leadership courses with the RN ... may have to go AWOL up there and never come home ..:D
