Thought the seat cover thread on its own might be seen as trivial, and three separate posts a bit extravagant:

1) It's actually a good question as some of you will have tried many different brands of seat covers. In my other past cars, some covers I've had come out of the washing machine with all the backing peeled off. I don't know if Camo's a bit butch for me, but having said that I'd have brown and cream (desert camo) covers if anyone knows where to get em. Canvas ones would be great but can't find any and I'm defo not wanting to pay more than a 100 absolute max. What are the best waterproof covers you've had that have washed well?

2) My tratter passed it's MOT today. Just one addition to the mechanic thinking it was great was that my propshaft was "slightly untrue but then all of em are". I like things to be right, so should I buy a true propshaft and where from?

3) Someone on ebay sells plywood side panels with just a curve at the seat belt end. It's a bit dear at 194 quid for two pieces of ply. Has anyone made a nice job of panelling their 3 door 90 without side windows and do you fancy drawing the measurements out and uploading on here?

Thanks in advance for responding to any of these questions if you do.

Slightly Un-True Propshaft, i'd look for a better mechanic, if thats the description he gave?!

Bad UJ's ?

My LR genuine Seat covers are nice in my D2, the reciept is from 2010 and they still look like new.

And for 3.

A tape measure and a pencil ;)

Might be worth getting em then. I thought about it earlier but the chap on ebay selling his wants 140ish quid. However, if they've lasted nine years then it's worth it.

Here:s my three piece tailored covers they even have a pocket on the outer rear bolster, made from very thick waterproof canvas.

If you google Escape gear seat covers, it takes you to their site.
Between £200-£400
Wow! Mind you, generally we get what we pay for. You don't really look like a defender driver if you don't mind me saying. You look more like a mercedes sports type of person. Are you a hairdresser?

My avatar is my alter ego, i look more like a cross between Freddie Star and Fred Dibnah, but i do also drive a Mercedes.

I have a set of these in the defender (link) and they have been in about 5 years now and are possible getting to the point where they need replacing (cosmetic rather than function). I have had no complaints form them, they fit well, are a good sturdy material and they are certainly better the ones I had before or the ones a friend has in his. They may not be as smart as @swisstoe 's set, but they are not priced to be :D

I would want some more detail off the mechanic regarding the propshaft. Is there play in either uj, play in the slider, or is it unbalanced (lost its weight-tab/been dismantled and not refitted in the same orientation)? They are about the only problems you can get with a prop shaft!

Although I am going to state my case hopefully a little more eloquently than @Hippo I do agree with his sentiment. In this day and age they must be composite panels available which would be harder wearing, and more sealed/waterproof than ply. The manufacture and fitting will be exactly the same, buy a flat sheet and cut out from a template, you are just using modern materials rather than wood. Unfortunately I cannot help with measurements, I have a 110 hardtop and it has windows so the hound can enjoy the wind in his ears!
