The original fitment would have been (depending on the model year) twin Zenith strombergs or SU's. 114hp rising to a heady 134(!) but plenty of grunt.
 
nope - its a common enuf carb. Fixed jets.
May not like extreme angles of attack tho.
Which one is it? 600/650?
 
I was on a play day recently with a lad in a 90, I think he said his had weber(s) on it.

Whichever way round, it used to struggle up steep hills because I assume the floats would get confused, which was not ideal.

lol, How steep are we talking? I'm mainly gonna use it on road to start with, maybe tricky conditions like snow etc, Should be fine for that?

I would like to do some green laneing in it eventually though... but not any sort of competitive climbing lol
 
Quite a few people have written about wanting to change there efi for carbs, why is this?
Mostly because they are too lazy to spend the time to understand how it works,or they are just stupid.Efi,esp the 14Cux on 3.9's is very DIY friendly and there are loads of cheap bits around and lots of info.
 
I have 14cux on my 3.5 and i managed to diagnose a fault/check everything else with a multimeter and a helpful website.

I think it's a great system, it uses far too much fuel, but if you keep everything sealed its been great to me off road.

Efi should be most fuel efficient as it is electroonically controlled - but only if everything is in tip top condition.

from the number shown on the choke housing, you can identify what carb you have.
 
Oh why is nothing ever simple!!! Haha, just been talking to my mate who is sorting out my freelander who's opinion is that a landrover v8 will drain all my money maintaining it. Decisions decisions........
