Hi all,
I have a problem with reverse lights on my 2010 defender puma I have checked the bulb & wiring so I have
purchased a new switch.
Is it better to change from the top Or from the underside ?
Anyone done this job before?
I think it will be a pig of a job if land rovers are anything to go by.
Thanks

Its a very easy job done from the top. Lift carpet out, this may require the cubby box screws to be loosened if the carpet is tucked under the base. Remove the foam pad in the gear sticks area, and take the gear stick off - the gear stick lifts out when the retaining clip at the bottom is released. The manual says to remove the hand brake lever, but I found this not to be necessary. Take the panel off which covers the transmission, wiggle it past the hand brake lever and out. You will then have good access to the switch, which requires a deep socket to remove it.
Additional; torque the switch to 15ft.lbs. / 20Nm

Only had to do this once but was also on 2.4 TDCI Puma. I did it from the top after removing Cubby box and plate below. It did take some arm gymnastics in my case though.

Hi all,
I have changed my reversing light switch today (Friday) all went well.
Done from the top, Had a bit of a problem getting the cubby box out as the two screws
at the back were seized in the rivnuts so I had to drill the heads off the screws then grind
the rivnuts off & fit new ones.
But the switch was changed over in no time with no problems at all
Thanks for your help.
