Hi all,

I've got what I think is an overly sensitive interia switch; it activates the hazard lights on the tiniest of bumps and the only way to turn them off is to turn the ignition off an back on again.

It's not a really a massive issue, just something that I find really annoying and was wondering if there was any way to disable/bypass the switch without messing anything else up? If not, is there a way to make it less sensitive?

I'm a complete noob when it comes to these things, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Replace the switch if it's broke'd. If you bypass it and the doors fall oft or you crash it, then you'll be wanting it to work and cut oft the fool supply.

Its not broken, its just a bit too sensitive and the hazards are coming on every time I hit the smallest little bump.

Does the fuel pump cutoff also work the hazards or is there more than one inertia switch?

I was thinking of taking it off and putting something shock absorbing like a thin bit of high density foam between the switch and the mounting before replacing it ... would that work?

That would be broken in my book. It's not working as intended, therefore broken (or something else near it is broken)

Check the switch is bolted down properly. Also make sure it has a cable tie holding the connector on. If yours is faulty most rovers and renault petrols use the same inertia switch so they are easy to come by in scrapppys.

For some reason discovery ones are generally seem to be over sensitive.
