Hi guys,

After having a nice accident involving some oil through a bend putting me into a 4 wheel skid sideways then going head on into a tree in my written off 3 door black focus :( I am now looking towards something to take the tree down if it happens again not be stopped by it :D :D !!

I have been looking at Defender 110's. As im sure many have after watching Lara Croft Tomb Raider I loved what they had done to the One off Defender 90. Im thinking if I can I will want to purchase an exMoD Defender that has probably a naturally asperated engine (so I was told). I believe this is a the 200tdi (Please correct me if im wrong)? For insurance purposes and car insurers seem to hate 20yr olds let alone ones that have just lost their no claims and had a write off!!

I would want to find one that was as said a 200tdi and also one with a bad interior so that I wouldn't have to spend much money on buying the landy but spend a time stripping it and then money on re-doing it. But I haven't found any websites or contact details for exMoD/government property.

Any ideas.

Thanks Carl

For what its worth,

The 200TDI is is not the same as the 2.5TD or 2.5 NA engine.

The 200TDI was then superceeded by the 300TDI then the TD5 and now the 2.4 ford engine.

Before you go buying a defender, have you ever driven one ? its a very different world to a ford focus.
Trees usually win no matter what you drive unless its a Cat D9 :D

Get yourself a copy of Land Rover Owner (or similar) and have a look there. There are usually adverts by suppliers of military surplus (you might even get a bulldozer to tackle that tree :) ), alongside more conventional sellers.

Be warned - Defenders are addictive! They are also unlike anything else on the road - which is probably part of their appeal.

As a Defender newbie myself I have found it to be a very physical experience driving it; not that it is hard work (it's not, at least not in my 200tdi 110), but it is quite noisy and bumpy and hot/cold (depending on weather) and wet (if raining)...and very big!

And I love it to bits!
