Anyone else have this problem. I just got off the phone with them, and they
will send me brand new stainless rivets, for me to replace my rusting steel
rivets in my brand new 800 dollar Chinese made truckbed toolbox.

They call it 'stain less' not never stain. There are various grades of
stainless and the Chinese one is known to rust before the item is
installed. Same for anything labeled 'stealhorse'. They have very poor
quality metal.

I would want a better grade of rivets though. If the originals rusted
out that fast in the box, what are the chances of the replacements
rusting the first rain they see.....

They're sending you a bag of the rivits you already have. Sell those on e-bay.
Some sucker will buy them

Go to McMaster-Carr and get some good SS Cherry Pop rivits. They will last
forever, and be much stronger than originals.

I am figuring that out. I just opened the lid and watched something snap on
the latch. Now it wont latch shut. That part looks aluminum though. Dee
Zee seems to be about as American of company I could find. In fact, the
headquarters is here in Iowa, about 70 miles away. Might just have to
visit, and drop of my rusting, latchless "Gold Series" toolbox in their
parking lot. I'll stick it in the "Made in China" box so they'll recognize
it!

Hmm, you do know that you can't mix aluminum and steel parts right?

If you put steel rivets into an aluminum frame, they will rust
immediately and rot out the aluminum.

An aluminum box needs aluminum rivets.
