The last time I posted (August 2011) I was considering a new 110SW as a dual purpose work/leisure vehicle.
Anyway I binned the idea and bought a new Renault Trafic instead to sit on the drive alongside:
VW Touareg
Suzuki Swift
VW Lupo
All boxes ticked in the transport department ?
Wife says no, we need another 4x4 to pull the horse box to shows and to get her to the farm where the horse stays (because she doesn't want to scratch my Touareg). I kindly donate £1000.00 to the fund and start looking. I come across lots of Jap stuff and some pretty beat up Discos/RR etc.
After much searching & effort I make a purchase:
1995 Discovery V8i XS
72000 documented miles
Solid, dry & original boot floor
Solid wheel arches
2 x working and water tight sunroofs
Everything else working, inside & out
Full Land Rover service history
12 Month MOT - No advisories
6 Months Tax
Just driven 200 miles from London to Manchester at a steady 70 and all seems fine. Gets a bit shaky around 60 mph but that may be a wheel bearing, steering alignment or something like.
Slight tapping noise, sounds like a loose cover rattling?
Bit of transmission whine so firstly going to change the transmission/diff fluids before digging deeper.
Usual 16 year old Disco refinements (curly dash board etc.)
Anyway its nice to be back and looking forward to sharing my ownership tribulations with you all.
