I hate having to fix other peoples bodge ups. I bought a genuine LR tow bar for my 300 TDi before I move to France at the end of the month.

Tow bar fitted in about 30 minutes and removed the grommet, wiring loom pushed up through the pre drilled hole in the floor and rubber grommet put in place... It was all going so well, it was all well designed and well thought out.. good old LR :)

All that remained was to connect the female 7 pin plug to the male 7 pin connector thats part of the original loom and its job done......or not in this case. When I opened up the access to connect the M&F plugs for the tow bar electrics I found the previous owner has hacked away the male connector from the Disco's loom and wrapped everything in 100 yards of electrical tape.

Spoke with LR and its not even a part they sell and now I'm pushed to get the electrics connected up properly. So I've spent more time fecking around looking for the right male 7 pin plug to fix the bodge up than fitting the actual tow bar. :frown:

Anyone know whare I can get the correct male 7 pin connector from? I'd rather fix it properly with the correct parts than just crimp spade connectors on.

Breakers and cut the section out you need and then solder and heat shrink it back together.

Thats what I am now planning but I've spoken to a couple of LR breakers and they just said no connector available (not sure if thats because its not worth their effort or if they genuinely don't have a 300 kicking about)

Just gotta find someone prepared to chop that bit of the loom off and swap it for beer tokens ;)

Hi Brian,

Do you have the heated front windscreen connectors (and a length of wire) as attached to the main loom? They are biggish connectors with two wires each.

Happy to pay.

It doesn't have a heated screen so unless they are on all the looms I don't.

If you PM me a description of where the plugs would be I will have a look. :)

Hi Brian,

I'd guess that yours doesn't have the connectors - mine has a retro fit heated screen and no connectors, hence my request.

If they are there, they would be within 6" of each bottom corner of the screen. Two wires (30 amp ish) into each connector. I can't confirm the connector colour as I've not seen one.

Thanks for your help.
