Hello peoples

Hope you're all keeping well out there....

Can anyone help me with dating a chassis number? The vehicle in question is RRC and was registered in 1985, the VIN states that the vehicle was manufactured in 1982. I've had a long chat with the DVLA (who were very helpful actually) and they sent me an email of what I need to do next. All is fairly straight forward other then the dating evidence.
They said :-
Acceptable dating evidence can be obtained from:
  • an extract from the manufacturer/factory record - these will have the chassis number of the vehicle against the month and year of production*
  • An extract from the Glass Check Book. This is a guide to production dates which includes chassis numbers; these were only available to the motor trade via a subscription. Information from them can be obtained from most vehicle specialist clubs.

Can anyone help with the above?

Many thanks in advance

Tony

Get one of these certificates

Thanks Galladog. Had a an absolute nightmare with them with another vehicle, the guy I felt with was an arrogant son of a .....! Don't want to ever deal with them again.

When I did it, it was online, just gave them the chassis number and payment.
I didn't speak to anyone and it was quick.

I just got one for my 101 to clear up a whole lot of WTF?
V5 said it was manufactured in 1982, rebuilt - assembled using parts some or all of which were not new.
Year of first use 1998
And it is an X reg which is 1981

The certificate stated it was manufactured in 1977, which considering they stopped making them in 1978 really put my mind at rest as i thought i'd bought something knocked up by Del in his lock up.

Now i know it left the factory in 1977 where it went into army storage at Ashchurch until it was sent to be converted into an ambulance and started it's active life in 1982. It was then demobbed in 1998. Past experience of ex military vehicles suggests it should have an S registered number (1998) and not an X (1981) as they are given the current letter when they enter civilian use.
