Hi Guys,

My fuel guage light recently broke, so i took apart the top section of the dash to get at the 3 instruments (clock, temp and fuel). After replacing the bulb it still didnt work. However, it suddenly started working when touched the face of the guage.

Its really strange, once its secured in place and working it seems to work fine all the time, but if you take it out the dash, turn the lights on, the bulb will not light, until you make the guage touch the dash or you tap it with your hand!

Does this sound like some loose earth issue? I am not good with car electrics. i have checked the bulb contacts and these seem fine, i have also swapped the bulb, and no joy.

on my 84 110 the body of the guage had to be earthed for the lights to work. Sounds like they haven't changed much in 22 years.
