Hi All,

I am in a sudden panic here!! Since having my D2 TD5, bought about 9 months ago and done 5k miles since, but I have always noticed a slight "rumbly vibration" at 65 - 70mph, but not other speeds. It has got no worse, no better. To me, it sounded like an out of balance propshaft, but I've never had a Landy before. The flexible coupling looked well past its best so I decided to replace it. I bought a complete GKN kit. Removing the coupling was easy, but the pinion flange seems to have no centralising pin!!!

Should it have one? The photos attached show exactly as dismantled, the flange and the inside of the prop. The bush inside the prop seems to have a metal sleeve, the new one doesn't, but it seems in good condition anyway. The flange seems to have surface rust where the peg would appear to go. Page 51-1 of RAVE seems to show the peg, but I definitely don't have one......

From the service history I got with the car, it seems to have had a new rear diff at 111k miles. Can I assume the garage didn't replace the peg?

If I need one, and it has probably done 30k miles since the new diff, does anybody know the part number, I have drawn a bit of a blank in a quick internet search. Also, to compound the problem,I am in rural France where Landy support is a little sparse!!

Many thanks in advance to all you knowledgeable and helpful folk out there.

Nigel

Thanks for your help with identifying the centraliser peg. I ordered one Monday, it arrived Thursday.

I took a while to clear the surface rust from inside the flange, I didn't want the new one jamming halfway in.

All back together with a new flexible coupling. I didn't change the bush in the propshaft as it seemed fine, no play. The result, the rumbly vibration is gone!

Thanks all.
