Hello guys - I’m after a +2 lift kit if anyone knows of one for sale!
What about shocks? Just a generic set of +2 shocks? I can get those pretty cheap from Paddocks so for now it might be the best way to go!A lot of the time, all you need to do is fit HD springs to the rear and then put the old rear springs on the front and that'll do it! Not the recommended way, i know!
Buy cheap, buy twice (sometimes)I can get those pretty cheap from Paddocks so for now it might be the best way to go!
Yeah I hear that! Been there a few times, I’m just thinking short term. At least until a half decent used set becomes available.Buy cheap, buy twice (sometimes)
You may be able to answer me a question I can’t find a definitive answer to - are the D1&2’s interchangeable? Spring wise at least?I already had Gaz shocks on to reduce the body roll (D1) they didn't cause a problem with the lift. But yes, I didn't go for cheap either! I didn't want the lift by the way, went for the HD springs as I knew I would be doing a ton of high speed towing of a heavy trailer for a long time, and they did just fine. the lift was an accidental by product, and if i ever get around to welding up the D1 the HDs will be coming off as i no longer need them.
"used set" of shocks??? Really? Why? Are you honestly that skint?Yeah I hear that! Been there a few times, I’m just thinking short term. At least until a half decent used set becomes available.
Alright not necessarily a used set of shocks! But a friend of mine has just picked up a full Terrafirma kit for £180 and I’d be surprised if they were 2 months old! That’s the kind of find I could do with. If I have to buy new so be it, but I have a list a mile long of things I need/ want to buy for it. So any savings I can make I’ll be more than up for."used set" of shocks??? Really? Why? Are you honestly that skint?
I sold a set of shocks and springs a couple of years back, they were in good nick with barely 50,000km on them"used set" of shocks??? Really? Why? Are you honestly that skint?
Hmmmm I don’t need any persuading to make a purchase haha! The newest Terrafirma kit is very reasonably priced! But I’d also like a winch bumper and other goodies so... I need to have a good think of what I’d like to do with it first.I sold a set of shocks and springs a couple of years back, they were in good nick with barely 50,000km on them
Springs were Bearmach blue HD jobbies, ride was harsh as fool when new running empty but after a year they settled down nicely.
Latest Terrafirma +2" set up is just sweet as can be.
Now you're getting the ideaI need to have a good think of what I’d like to do with it first.
It takes me a while but I’ll get there haha! Now you're getting the idea

This is what I needed as I am indeed new to this stuff. I’ve just had a set of Cooper all- terrains so I’ll strap them on and see what she’s like. I also have a mega oil leak from the transfer case and the watts linkage is fubar. So gearbox out next weekend, sort the oil leak and whack a rear crank seal in it too. Along with a new pilot bush as there is a noise when manoeuvring when cold. All things that need doing to make her a little bit more reliable. If you're new to all this then here is a guide.
Tyres, first big purchase and one you need think about quite hard.
What type of driving are you going to be going mostly? Big aggressive knarly rubber eats muddy bogs but hates motorways and drinks fuel. What are you realistically going to be doing weekly/monthly? Cooper STT are a super nice tyre that is a more 65/35 all terrain tyre, good wearing and phenomenally capable.
What kind of road driving will you be doing? Green lanes? Pay & Play days? Mix of lanes and commuting?
It's all well and good to build a rufty tufty mean looking beast, but to what end?
You mention a winch bumper, what about a winch? Second battery? Second alternator?
Suspension mods come with complications and compromises so be aware that some money spent now can lead to more money being spent later on.
Yeah she does need a little bit of attention before get put through her paces! We’ll get there, I’ll try and post most of my progress on hereWell done, get the maintenance done first before putting the baubles on the Christmas tree!

I didn’t think so, thanks for replyingNo D1 springs do not fit on a D2.
