Evening folks,

I bought my Disco 2 just over 2 weeks ago and unfortunately it only came with one key (worn plastic casing and crap buttons) so I decided to buy one of these refurb kits you can buy online that allows you to just swap the chip and key blade over from old casing into the new one. Annoyingly my keyblade isn’t budging, I have watched a couple of the videos on YouTube as in how it should come out but mines isn’t playing ball.

Any suggestions in how to get it out so I can put it in new casing...? can’t afford a brand new key for another couple of weeks as getting a full service done tomorrow as a peace of mind clean bill of health type of thing.

Thanks once again

Chris

Yes, the key blade is in the fob very securely. When I replaced one of mine I put the metal part of the key in a vise and then carefully levered the fob case off. You will need to wind the vise up very tight because you will find that the levering could start to pull the key out of the vise.
There will or should be a black plastic piece on the key blade. That is intentional.
When you push the blade into the new fob case, you'll probably find that you'll have to use the vise again to press the blade fully home by working on the sides of the key.

The problem i found is that in time the casing gets loosened and the blade comes out too easy then some ownes are using superglue or other strong bond which is a bad ideea and maybe that's your case.... mine loosened too but i used a drop of black silicone sealant which lets it removable
