Hi guys im about to embark tomorrow on a 1/2chassis replacement in my d2. I have a couple of concerns as follows.
I intend to support rear of vehicle by placing a support across the chassis from side to side just in front of the rear trailing arms. I concerned the body structure may droop after I cut away the rear chassis section what do you guys think?
Hopefully by tomorrow night it'll be axle off complete
exhaust off
Tank out
Bumper off and all required body bolts out.
boot floor wire brushed where reqd and re undersealed.
Thanks in advance

Gary

Hi Gary, I done mine about 18 months ago!
You will find out where you will need to place the support jacks and axle stands. Don't worry about the body! You still have 2/3ds of the chassis supporting the body!
Points to note!
Make sure you measure at least 1000 times before and after cutting!

Use the Land Rover Workshop Manuals site for Chassis Data for height and length when you replace the new one (before you weld!!).

Mave sure you also keep a eye on the brake lines when putting the new one in!

When i did mine I supported the rear end of the body , close to the body bolts on the read cross member, the body is surprisingly strong and ridged, and drop will be easily seen on the door shuts, so i regular check the door opened and shut OK, you can also put tape across them as it will show any drop in the body,
