Right, so I've got the headlights and I've now got the D2 facelift slam panel ready to be butchered and put in place, but it appears the breaker I brought it from doesn't seem to think that the slam panel should come with the headlight securing mounts at the top and sides, so I'm now after some pics of Discovery 2 facelift headlight mounting brackets so I know what to look out for, as I've no idea what they look like.

Looking at the panel, the ones to the side appear to be a simple L bracket with captive nut. It's the ones which keep the top part of the light in place I'm more interested in.

If anyone could either post or PM some pictures of their D2 facelift headlight mounting points, I'd be most grateful.
Failing that, if anyone can find a web link which shows them clearly, then feel free to post, as I'm buggered if I can find one!

Thanks, but they're just the covers and not the actual part which physically holds the headlight in place.

Ah, ok. They just looked like covers in the eBay listing, although as I said, I've no idea what I'm looking for yet.

Here's what I've got:

You can see in this pic how the side of light will attach to the slam panel once an L bracket is in place:

But what is it that joins the two captive nuts (headlight to panel) in this pic?

And are there any more securing points apart from these 3?

And thanks very much for the help so far. :)

I've also just noticed that those eBay links are for parts for a 2001 model.
I need the 2002-2004 facelift model.

Sorry got no pics of mine, but from memory, i fitted mine with 2 screws at the top, and then at the bottom of the inner edge next to the radiator grill. I also think that the bottom jockey trim has a fastening point, but i made mine up as i went along as never had the new panel and fitted them just by grinding away what i never needed.

sturox did this conversion I'd pm him

I need someone with a factory standard facelift D2, as this is the type of retro fit I'm aiming for rather than the normal angle grinder & tin snip method.

I'm an awkward/fussy so-n-so. :D

That 3rd picture (complete with cotton bud :D ) makes perfect sense of the situation now - thanks.

Just gotta find somebody breaking one now to get the few bits I need so I can get the job done!

Rob, I hope you're noting all this ball-ache I'm saving you! :D

Just managed to source the final side mounting brackets from Craddocks.

Full picture conversion thread to follow soon. :D

Is there any reason you are going to all this expense, and not just going down the route I did, angle grind and then weld on a few brackets here and there (with the option of duct tape and cable ties ;)) - just curious that's all

It's not as expensive as you might think - 95% of parts sourced via eBay. :)

And I'm fussy when it comes to vehicle modifying. Everything has to be done properly, neatly and tidy - ask anyone who knows me well. :D

No probs - agree on when doing anything, needs to be done properly etc - hence why I tend to do it myself, and also make up the stuff I need - probably majorly over engineered, but at least I know they will last ;)

Will be interested to see how it comes together compared to my version - although with the bonnet shut, it does look factory(ish).....
