Evening chaps! After blowing two CVs this year on my 110 I've started thinking about fitting D2 axles, hopefully stop it happening! Or least less often

So whats involved? First of all will my short nose rear diff fit the Disco axle and work happily with the rest of my 110? If not then this is a non starter.

I know the front is a standard long nose diff so thats fine. Everything else compatible?
Radius Arm
Trailing Arms
Front spring & shock mounts
Rear spring & shock mounts
Watts linkage? I'm guessing I can just remove this
Brakes - Can I use the Defender calipers? I would like to considering all mine are basically brand new.

Anything else?

Thanks :)

You know my tyres arnt going anywhere!!

Thats the thing! I could go for Ashcroft CVs which are stronger, but Disco CVs are bigger and thus Ash CVs = bigger and stronger! So thats the thing..

:rolleyes: I would indeed but gain some chunky knuckles! :D

Also what about wheels? Do Defender wheels fit Disco hubs? If so then this is another non starter!! Can't loose my sexy bowlers :p:p:D

Maybe I'll just get the Ashcroft shafts and CVs :rolleyes:

Thinking about it I think it was the TC that attributed to the CV blowing, the caliper was coated in brake dust. I suspect the TC locked on the passenger side wheel stopping it from spinning, with difflock in got a huge amount of torque running through that CV! Thus it goes bang.

Loose the massive tyres, or get Ashcroft CV's!!

I'll run and hide now! :) :p

Or next time your doing chavvy donuts in an icy car park take difflock off.....

Not sure why you had it on if you just wanted to f uck about spinning and donuting?

Yes I wanted to **** about being a chav :p :p Difflock was in to "help" lock up the rear LSD and it make spin

Tbf HD CVs and shafts have always been on the list to do but if I can fit bigger, better ones then I rather do that. If it ends up being a fortune in fabrication/welding or doesnt suit my requirements then I won't bother. Hence me asking!

TALking about rear diffs - I have been thinking about an Ashcroft ATB and sticking it in the rear

I would, exactly what I've got in mine. Brilliant bit of kit, though I went for the Ultrabuild from Xcess4x4. Transparent on road, excellent off road. + You can join me being a chav :D :p

+2 (!) - this white sh*t has me thinking along the same lines - trouble is, if I fit one to mine, blinkin SWMBO will want one in hers too  .........:D

I know .....I have a cunning plan ;) ..... I'll only fit one if you lot promise not to tell o_O

As Neilly said, the stud pattern is different. I'd bought some for mine to get the 2" extra track, but gave them away when I realised I couldn't get 'Fender wheels on them.

Deal!

In the snow/ice driving normally, with the TC it was actually hard to make it slip! Stopped very well too, even without the TC its a huge improvment.

I've done this recently mate, just before the snow we had in December, and I is brilliant! Fairly straightforward to do yourself and well priced. You can feel it working when you need it, great bit of kit!
