Should the header tank in this photo have coolant showing, I am not sure if the header tanks are clear or not, if they are clear it looks empty to me. It is for sale and miles away from me so I only have photos at the moment.

Only up to just below the halfway line where the seam of the tank is, at least that's where it is on my Range Rover.
It makes the water level a bit of a bugger to spot. Easier to tell when there is a decent amount of OAT anti-freeze in the fluid because it colours it.
There is usually a Triangle pattern on the side of the tank nearest the wing and it is only meant to be showing filled to that point when cold.

Yes it looks empty to me also.
As the tank is opaque u will get an idea of the coolant level which should be up to around the halfway seam.
The Range Rover had the opaque the Disco1 had black when they left the factory.

had clear on two of my Discos. Both split :(.
