Hi all,

My D1 has sat up for a bit and i'm in the process of getting it back out there.
As the title..... my rear tailgate won't open!

I have read plenty of info'/forum posts etc' over the last few days and my issues doesn't seem common, as there is no way I can get the latch to release.

Not from either handle, not with holding up the lock pin or using the key?!

I have removed the badge and lubed the handle (was a little sticky - perfectly free now - rests all the way forward).
I have removed the door card, all linkages look sound, I can also manually move them with a screwdriver. I can see the linkages/arms moving as they should when both handles are used, it just doesn't pop the tailgate as it should when operated.

Have tried bumping the door with handles open, in the hope the hinge had just got a bit stiff - no chance, it still feels like the latch is engaged.......

Just given it all another lube and walked away in the hope someone on here can shed some light on my situation! I'm a bit stuck now as what to do.....

Many thanks in advance if you can help me understand the issue!

:)

Sounds like a combination of heaving, wiggle latches and central locking operation may help to shift it

Thank you for the reply.

I assume you think it could be the final part of the latch mechanism sticking? Do you know if this is common and something that does free up?

I had spotted something when trying to learn more, about owners cutting doors apart due to no other options! I really hope this won't be the case.

Not sure how common this is. But you could try lying in the back, pulling the internal handle whilst applying pressure with your feet and see if the lock frees up. I think I've had this with the tailgate before, lifting the black button whilst pushing might help. You've got to try everything before thinking about cutting the door off!
