So the beast has developed a problem... its cutting out under load!
its a 3.5efi

It idled for 30 min tonight without and issue, and you can pull away slowly.. but as soon as you give it the beans it cuts the power like a switch! but will still idle when you put the clutch in ( not sure if the car moving keeps it going enough not to cut out fully when it does it.
It last for say 10 secconds and will do it again as soon as you give it a lil power.

There's plenty of fuel.
Still does it with the Vac advance removed and also the MAF removed.

Only thing I could think it might be is and ECU problem or a bad fuel regulator.
Not sure what's caused it, but I fit an alternator that was running at 19Volts for a few min, not sure if that could be it?

Any help appreciated!
Cheers Mark

Might have fried the ecu.. hope not. Duno how to test it either.
It seems like most of the time it wont rev up under load and almost go to limp mode. Not sure if these ecus have limp mode?

Err - at the risk of being flamed, it wouldn't be something simple like the earth strap would it? Load creates more return amperage? Moving engine breaks the connection?

From memory they have two straps - one conventional and one from the back of LH the head - right?

Its a decent suggestion! But its definitely a faulty part rather than something loose as it cuts out for about 10 seconds consistently.

Thanks for the input though.
