So moved to a new house last month from middle of no where to a small housing estate.

Went out to start my Rangie and yep, battery was flaaaaaaaaattttt!!

I had noticed the little red light on the Auto Box Control not going out so guess it's all the wireless routers round my new house keeping my BECM awake.

I looked at the unit under rear parcel shelf, the little black box has a blue dot on it so I am assuming that is the troublesome unit!

I have unpluggled the single blue wire from this unit.

The doors still pop on the fob from about 2 metres so guessing that is ok?

Weird thing is I can't see little red light on Auto box shifter at all when I switch off now, not even for the two mins that it used to stay on for in the old days? Is that ok?

Thanks

Rachel

Never been able to see the light on mine when I switch off so I wouldn't worry about it.
New receiver ASAP.:)

So removing the blue wire is not a solution?
A partial solution Rachel, it may stop the receiver responding to stray WiFi signals, it will not stop it going mad and burning your locks.
You could consider the mod posted by tomcat alan, you would then need to carry 2 FOBs.

If you have just moved house, I'm sure you could do without additional expense.

I am leaving her parked unlocked in the garage. What does a new unit cost? Can they be still obtained? How do I know if genuine?

Thank you!

Dealer only, DO NOT buy on ebay, often they are old units repackaged.
Expensive over £200 according to some.
There are 3 versions, only the last one is good, I can post a photo if it helps, been posted many times.

Ouch! Why do the locks burn out? If I leave it open (as garaged) would that be OK?
