Hi, my rear door catch is driving me mad, it started as a squeak and has slowly evolved into a creak after about 4 lots of adjustment!

I've moved the pin inwards a couple of times so the door shuts tighter, also tried loosening the screws through the rubber block to let it expand slightly, then fitted a 2mm thick aluminium spacer on top of the rubber block to space it out further so it grips the catch tighter when shut. After still creaking I put a smear of grease on the mating surfaces.

All this has not solved the issue, it is so inconsistent that it will creak like mad one journey, then without even having used the door will be silent the next and so on.

The hinges seem OK, its a 2005 td5.

Any advice on how to sort it? The rest of the vehicle is surprisingly rattle free so this is really annoying!

Try changing the rear door hinge pins and bearings, the repair kit costs around £10 and it cured my rear door rattles.
