Finally got the job done, bloody weather.
Took two hours in all, nice easy job after all as I only did the timing belt a year ago. She sounds much happier now, you could hear the old bearing grumbling over the usual engine noises!
Tips...
To get the fan pulley off, an air impact wrench is ideal as you don't have to risk damaging the pulley when trying to lock it up.
Remove the coolant tank bolts, drop the tank a little and undo the stat and header bungs, the coolant will drain back into the coolant tank. Remove the top hose and no coolant is lost at all. When refilling, lift the tank slowly and the coolant will rise, when it reaches the rad header replace that bung and when it reaches the stat housing replace that bung. Result is no mess or lost coolant and no airlocks - job done.
