hi,

There's a 4.o litre petrol p38 on feebay that looks nice but the engine cuts out when it gets warm.

The seller claims that this is due to a faulty crank position sensor.

is that correct or a pile of bs?
 
kind of difficult as the car is in Aberdeen and I'm in London.

it looks a clean enough car and the mileage stacks up as I've checked it on the DVLA website.

seems a bit weird that a crank sensor would make it cut out when warm.
 
That's a typical failure mode. When it cools it will start fine and probably continue ok until you stop and get heat soak off the engine.
 
what's involved with changing the sensor?

is it an expensive job?

The car comes with a new sensor to put on
 
I've also spotted a td6 diesel on a 04 plate.

described as Smokey and sluggish it would appear to have a faulty turbo, but you can buy a replacement for about 300 quid.

td6 or 4 litre petrol???
