Any suggestions?

Got the crank bolt out with help from a 7 foot pole as a breaker bar lol. Starter motor trick didn't work and air impact gun gave up...thought it was plain sailing after that!

Pulley unbolted from damper and separated ok. Tried crowbarring it off and swinging off crowbar lol, didn't budge. Assuming its loctited on. Got my massive blowtorch on it today but **** myself when the rubber on the damper went a but funny and the timing case went a bit black!

This leaves me with a few options....

1- Man up and cherry it with the blowtorch then lever off (and buy new damper)

2- Put a big socket over the damper and hit it to shock it free

3- Tie rope round damper, pull through PTO hole and pull on it with a Transit...

Any other suggestions? I'm trying to get out of buying a puller unless absolutely needed, to be honest with how stuck it is I doubt it'd work anyway... Getting the transit on it is a last resort but I'll try it if I get desperate!
 
Fook me I could do without that....
My mate needs to do his as well so might try and get half the cash off him...
Reckon it'll still shift it even though it looks like there's a gallon of loctite on it?
 
I bought one of the puller kits from ebay, the quality of the kit is very good and it makes what can be a b@stard of a job very simple.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

had to cut mine off with a stihll saw, wasnt even glued on, just siezed, tried every trick i could think of, then a few i hadnt, brutal but got it off
 
That exactly what ive got to do to mine, ive even got the new pulley and timing chest cover, just need to get passed the cant be arsed bit!

Put the kit on and it wound straight off!

So for anyone else reading this- don't prat about just spend the 40 quid, and this is from a tight yorkshireman.

An object lesson for us all. You can achieve great things given time and patience with skill and ingenuity, or you can spend £40, sort it and get on with the rest of your life :)
 
speaking as a tight yorkshire tyke! i would say buy the kit! it saves you a lot of hastle and time AND THEREFORE MONEY! no contest,
 
Thanks for the tip about the kit. I've just started stripping a 200, and I have a feeling that the kit will save me at least a lot of faffing about, and possibly an expensive mistake. Kit duly ordered -:Dand it looks the dogs dangly bits in it's smart case - might persuade people I have a clue about what I'm doing!
 
Did you order it before it went up to 50 quid?
Mine turned up today not to bad at all especially for the price.

Nope - 50 quid for mine, but should be arriving Monday. Back to cleaning the bits now - the engine's, not mine.
