Hi all,

2 things: firstly, at the moment my '96, 4.0 has a donut LPG tank in the spare wheel well. When these machines have an actual spare wheel languishing in there, is the bottom of the well sealed, either normally original steel or with a rubber grommet-type affair.
I think the rubber grommet currently in situ on mine has been cut to allow the gas pipes through and it appears to be a source of cold, damp air being drawn into the cab.

Secondly, the boots on my RR are 255/55R19's, I think on Disco III 19" rims. Has anyone else got this setup and, if you originally had 16" or 18" wheels, is it any better/worse?

The Well I believe does have a rubber grommet but I could be wrong as mine currently has the tordial tank too, and my 3 previous P38's were a while ago!

As for the wheels/tyres.

Mine has 19" Alloys on and the ride is harsh....

Both my 4.6's had 16" and the ride was supple....

My DSE had 18's and the ride was good, and didn't feel as wollowy in corners, but the pressures had to be spot on to prevent tramlining and od handling behaviour....

The P38 on 16's or 18's is a better ride than 19's as it was designed for them...but the 19's do look good on the P38 IMHO

Ride = 16's
Handling = 18's (as long as the pressures are correct)
Looks = 19's

Ride on 18's fitted with Nexen Rodians is almost the same as 16's and tyre pressure is not so critical, I have both sizes for my DHSE so able to make a comparison. The 18" Wranglers were awful by comparison.

Hi,
So what pressure do you run your 18's at? Mine is much better on the 16 inch winter tires than on the 18 inch summer ones, but I may be running wrong pressure.

As above 28-29 Fronts and I found 34 on the Rears as I usually carry my tool boxes, ramps and etc around!!
