I would of done but I have just taken her off the road to get some jobs done on her. Hopefully next time..

If in doubt recce on foot. A high lift jack, two strong shackles and a good rope you can slowly recover yourself from all but the worst situation;) Even more if youve got waffle boards too :)

You need to think about what your saying.

Winch! Greenlane!

If you need a winch you shouldnt be driving it anyway. ;)

Im not going to pretend people dont get stuck on lanes becasue they do. But if you know you are going to need to winch then its wise to not drive it. :)

As Mr turbo said. When you have a spare afternoon, go and recce the lanes you wish to drive, you will know pretty soon if they are drivable. Tis what i did.

i know i shouldnt need one, but as i say, im new at this and the last thing i want to do is need a winch cos i fooked up and not have it. so i want to go out with someone else first and learn from em. rather sensible i thought

It is sensible.. If you got stuck and posted on here for help after going out on your own, you would get loads of abuse.
Where abouts in Cornwall are you and what lanes were you thinking of..?

im in bodmin, can you suggest any ?
Join G.L.A.S.S, Learn from their website and mag. Use Trailwise and OS. As BGB says you shouldnt be getting stuck or using lanes if wet or in poor condition, doing this will get us all banned from the lanes. Ther are few enough good ones in Kernow anyway!

i already know of 3, one is impassable due to a fallen tree (too narrow really too) went down the other two earlier, what a laugh.

Well, I woud be very careful that the roads you are driving are lanes ie public vehicular rights of way. Because if you havent seen them marked as PROW on Trailwise or OS maps they might well be white roads, which are often private and do not carry public access rights. The inhabitants of these often do not like the roads being used and may not be polite if they catch you! Myself I have not seen many lanes of any length or interest around that area on Tw or the OS maps, which leads me to think you may be on private tracks.

they are on trailwise.
Nice one mate:) Important not to upset people atm laning is pretty under threat, scary the roads that have been lost already in some places. Now theres a lot of tro and the business in the peaks and so on, shame!
Im pretty sure you are allowed to cut and move the fallen tree if its a legit ROW and you can do so.

its already been cut up, would just need to drive in from other end and throw a strop round it and drag it out to a wide bit a bit further up. but im not going to bother, its a bit too narrow for comfort for a disco.

well, i didnt get stuck, took a mate out onto a couple i know and had a right laugh teaching him how to offroad. got a few vid's i'll post em up later, but they arent very good as the wipers dont cover the area infront of the camera so you end up with water drops all over the field of vision :( might buy a longer wiper to sort that.
