thank u i did think it was a head gasket but not to shaw as this my first land rover.now can u plz tell me if its a series 1 or 2. its a 94 3.9 v8i thanks.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Being a Yank who's only owned a Landy for a year and half, I'm not much of an expert.

The Rover V8 first was introduced in 3.5, I believe, so yours is indeed second in a series of block overborings to increase dispacement, first to 3.9 then to 4.2 and finally, ugh...4.6.

I don't believe that either the Series 1 or 2 Land Rover came with a V8, so that's why I'm confused.

What kind of car is it?

maybe he means classic or p38?

I had the same on mine , start with the headgaskets and if it doesnt fix it the block is knackered.

Are you in victoria on vancouver Island?

Must be from somewhere upside down to spell "shaw" that's for sure.
So start at the beginning with disco1s and the classic Range Rover both had 3.9s. Disco2s and RR P38 has the Thor engine although sill a 3.9 it was called by Land Rover 4.0 to dfferentiate between the two engines.

Back to the question or is it a statement ?? it does happen.

Profile says:-'94 disco 3.9
could still head gasket or liner slipped also as its hotter over there you would need to look at the cause as well as the symptoms.
Get a gas sniff test and that will tell you if any hydrocarbons in header tank
To answer your first question its a disco 1
