Td6 vogue 2003
Hi all, lots of things going on with my new baby when I get the chance.
Electric fan not working, so sourced a replacement, with 6 months warranty for what it's worth. Initially looked OK until I came to fit, the lower plastic cowl/shroud on the replacement is bigger than the original, so fouls on the intercooler. (see photos). I know that I could probably send it back, but I could do without the hassle tbh. I am guessing that the new one is from a petrol model without the additional cooler, and I know I can cut away the plastic cowl to make it fit. Does anyone know of a specific reason that the Td6 will not operate the replacement fan assuming it is from a petrol model? Cheers

Isn't that the aircon fan? TD6 is viscous fan on inside of rad.
Can't you just put the fan on the old cowling?
Possibly, but fixings may bust if I try to swap them over was my fears, but do you think the fan itself is compatible with the Td6? I can't think of any reason why it would not be, but these sure are complex beasts. Cheers

No idea if they are the same as not changed one yet. Have you tried googling the part to see if they have the same part number.
Can't think the petrol and diesel would be different as aircon will be the same.

Both myself and @dwarfer have just had to change this same fan, it only runs when air con is on so I would check it works ok by getting somebody to hold on to it while sat on top of engine ( its powerful when it ramps up to full speed ask me how I know) if it runs ok I would cut away the part in the way and refit it and yes google part numbers as @backinblack says. You can change it without removing the bumper by the way.

Thanks, I read your earlier posts regarding the fan which helped enormously.
I am in awe of the fan size, and therefore a bit reluctant to remove it from its original housing, just imagining the chaos it would cause if it broke loose gives me shivers lol, think I will cut away the cowling and hope that it responds to the task.
I wanted to remove the bumper anyway, just to get the feel for the car tbh, I've got parking sensors to change, fog lamp repairs, so it was just a learning curve. Those bumper screws did give me a bit of trouble though, phew!
Got a few more questions that I'll be raising shortly, just hope to get a bit of time to actually do some repairs
Thanks again, cheers

I laid mine on top of engine/wing to try it and it was trying to take off at full speed, it was like do I risk letting go of it to switch off or hang on to it in the hope that wife appeared to see how I was getting in the end I moved it as near windscreen as I could and let go while switch it off. There is only 3 torx screws holding fan to cowl if they come undone its a simple job to change it over, it kind of stutters a bit making its mind up which way to go when it kicks in so dont be suprised when it starts.

hi there
yes to the question
td6 and 4,4 petrol fan motors can be used
petrol cowl however cannot as it is bigger
just unscrew motor three screws and change it over
i did mine about two months back and posted , check at dwarfer.
both myselt and at kds had some issues...
now theres a thing..l322 with issues..how would have thought
